Heating assistance to low-income families - Provides heating assistance to low-income families in the seven-county area. Assistance with natural gas, propane gas, electricity and wood whichever is the primary heating source. The amount of assistance is based on the total family income and offered only once each year. Weatherization Program Food Pantry, commodities - U.S.D.A. commodities are distributed to eligible households in the Oconee Area twice each program year. Distribution is based on the amount of surplus food received. Clients are selected on a first-come, first-serve basis. Assistance with prescription medication Certified Nurses Aid Program - Provided in conjunction with job readiness. Upon successful completion of job readiness, clients are referred to CNA classes to obtain certification. Once a client has completed CNA training and has become certified, job search efforts are conducted to obtain employment.Transportation provided to low-income disadvantaged clients going to and from work, GED classes, Job Readiness, Certified Nurses Aide classes and other classes in conjunction with the PEACH program, Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion program.Foster Grandparent program offers services to children with special needs and the Senior Companion program offers services to adults with special needs. Self-paced, individualized programs involving both print-based instruction and computer assisted learning.Provide training for unregulated childcare providers in the Oconee Area.
