About Wisconsin Department of Administration

The Wisconsin Division of Energy Services provides services to qualified Wisconsin residential households with weatherization needs and energy assistance.

The Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) administers the federally funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and Public Benefits Energy Assistance Program. LIHEAP and its related services help approximately 230,000 Wisconsin households annually. In addition to regular heating and electric assistance, specialized services include:


  • Emergency fuel assistance,
  • Counseling for energy conservation and energy budgets,
  • Pro-active co payment plans,
  • Targeted outreach services,
  • Emergency furnace repair and replacement.

Services are provided locally through:

  • County social services offices,
  • Tribal governments,
  • Private non-profit or other government agencies.

    Good afternoon Miss Brown I'm inquiring to you why I receive such a less amount this year 2019 in my energy assistance when 2017 and 2018 I received way much more I still live in the same mobile home just moved it to a different mobile park, my rent has gone up and I'm paying for water now so I'm paying more money out and received way less only a $134. For my electric and $280 only for gas. Please let me know. THANKS so much DAVIA'D Prouty
